STEM based careers are going to be among the highest paid jobs of the future! As well paid, or even better paid in some cases, as Doctors, Lawyers, and Lobbyists. Stop and think about that! An individual in the future in a STEM field could be among the most highly paid. We may not have even though of what the STEM careers of the future will be!

The Power of STEM

STEM careers are fueling innovation and industry all around the world.
                             Why?
STEM careers are available to everyone, meaning that anyone with an interest in technology, how things work, and/or how to make things better can be apart of the conversation.

Shigeru Miyamoto: Innovator in Tech

Shigeru Miyamoto is one of the most famous names in the world of Video Games. After joining Nintendo in 1977, Miyamoto has continually pushed the boundaries of video game innovation and every Nintendo console has featured one of his games. You may recognize some of his famous franchises: Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, F-Zero, and Pikmin.

But all this is nothing compared with the Wii, Miyamoto's brainstorm that came out in late 2006. By making video games simple to control with hand gestures, the Wii revitalized the entire industry. It's that kind of innovation that has redefined the video game industry!

Now you may be thinking that "Well Miyamoto is the way he is because he's got a super advanced degree, and years of highly technical experience." But that's not true! Miyamoto has a degree in industrial design, but nothing more advanced. Rather, he choses to develop new games and concepts based upon what he finds fun, enjoyable, and exciting! He loves what  he does and that's what makes him "The Father of Modern Video Games".

What does this mean for my child?

Science is all around us and technology, mathematics, and engineering are never going away! In fact, they are going to infuse deeper into our society. It is important that they have the skills needed to enter into this new world! In an article called "Why STEM Education is Important for Everyone" discusses why STEM is so important as well as what careers are going to be the most important in the future.

Whether your child's passion is mathematics, robotics, or video games, fueling that passion can make a huge difference in your child's future!
